Small Business Saturday

It’s Small Business Saturday on 6th December where consumers are encouraged to choose small local businesses for their purchases rather than national, or even multinational, retailers. As a small, independent business we wholly support this initiative. Spending your money with local businesses helps to keep that investment local and therefore boost the economy in which you live and work.

We’ve long been an advocate of buying locally and are one of the founding members of Buy Wakefield which is an initiative set up to encourage Wakefield businesses to buy their products and services from fellow Wakefield businesses. Small Business Saturday very much follows the same kind of principal.

Small businesses may not have the resources of large ones, or the buying power or influence but often they have a better understanding of the local area and local people, a more personal service and faster turnaround times due to simpler decision making and procurement processes. They’re also more likely to spend their own revenue locally and pay their taxes locally which puts something back in locally.

There are lots of high profile, national security companies that some people just feel happier using because they know the name and feel they can trust them but we truly believe that we, as small business, can offer just as much in terms of trust and many other benefits above and beyond such as a more responsive service and lower prices. So, the next time you need your alarm serviced, or keys cut or locks changed, why not bypass the nationals and support your local, small business.
