Support Small Businesses

Small Business Saturday – 5th December

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday – a campaign to encourage people to support small retailers over large, national businesses. While the focus of the campaign is predominantly around Christmas shopping (and burglar alarms tend not to make for great Christmas gifts!), we would definitely support the sentiment of it. Buying from small, local businesses not only helps to strengthen those businesses, who are all working really hard to be successful, it helps the local economy and, in many cases, offers advantages in terms of products and service.

We have, on many occasions, won business from large national security companies because we compete well on both price and service and our customers tell us that they like the personal service that they get from us. We would therefore encourage people to look at where else they can spend their money with small local businesses over large national (or even international) ones – particularly on Saturday but throughout the Christmas period. If you’re going to spend the money anyway, much better that it goes to a small business and stays local.

Small businesses account for 99.3% of businesses in the UK and employ 15.6 million people yet only take 33% of the turnover.
