National Home Security Month is back

And this year we’re giving you visual tips and advice

Each year October is National Home Security Month. We have been an official supporter of the campaign for 4 years now and this year is no exception.

As in previous years, each week of the campaign has a different theme regarding an aspect of home security. This year, rather than creating blog posts for each theme, we’ve decided to create some visual resources instead, each an infographic or meme to convey useful home security advice in a quick visual format. Please feel free to share these in your social networks to spread the word about keeping your home secure.

Here are the themes and what you can expect over the month:

Week 1: Raise the Alarm

A focus on home intruder alarms. We’ll be sharing an infographic comparing the benefits of wired and wireless alarm systems to help you decide which is best for your home.

Week 2: Setting the Standard

A closer look at locks. We’ll be sharing a fun meme designed to demonstrate the value of anti-snap locks

Week 3: Lights, Camera, Action

Outdoor security; how to protect your sheds and outbuildings. We’ll be sharing an infographic about the measures you can take to secure your outbuildings which can seem like a low risk/high reward option for burglars (especially if you have expensive bikes, tools or equipment in there).

Week 4: Future Focused

Looking at smart security and how technology is changing.

Week 5: Dark Nights Descend

Burglaries always spike around Halloween as darker nights come when the clocks go back. We’ll show you how to turn the tables on burglars and make your home scary to them!

It all kicks off on Monday 1st October so follow the blog and our social media channels, Twitter and Facebook, where we’ll share some great advice for protecting your home.
