Break Secure / Anti-Snap Locks

Your locks are your single best form of defence against a break in but are they good enough? West Yorkshire Police estimate that at least 25% of break ins are caused by lock snapping. This statement from the Master Locksmith Association explains what this means:

“The method of lock snapping involves breaking the cylinder to then manipulate the lock to open. Whilst you may think that all the multi locking points on your door make it secure, it’s important to realise they are all operated by the cylinder – this is the weakest point and if compromised all the locking points are rendered useless.”

Lock snapping is fairly simple to do – if you know how – and requires no specialist tools. There is, however, an equally simple solution – anti-snap, or break-secure, cylinder locks. These locks are designed to snap in a pre-determined position so that they still remain secure, even if tampered with.

Anti-Snap Locks Yorkshire

Swapping to an anti-snap lock is pretty easy and inexpensive. We sell them in our security shop or we can offer a full MLA-approved locksmith installation service.

Unfortunately, the only way to tell whether your own lock is an anti-snap lock is to dismantle it. This is something that we can do for you, if you’re not sure what you’re doing.
